The Certified Nurse’s Aide (C.N.A.) is a paraprofessional member of the health care team who works directly under the supervision and directions of the Registered Nurse and provides various services for the client, the majority of which are personal care and activities of daily living.  The Certified Nurse’s Aide is assigned to assist in a manner that will promote a quality, safe environment for the client.

Responsibilities

  1. Performs only under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, who has provided written instructions for patient care (Home Care Plan) or verbalized in a Nursing facility.
  2. Performs total care, or assists clients in all activities of daily living personal care, such as but not limited to, bathing, grooming, linen changes, and so forth.
  3. Assists clients with transfers, ambulation, and exercises as assigned.
  4. Prepares nutritious meals within the client’s diet and assists client with eating when necessary.
  5. Performs light housekeeping chores as outlined by a Registered Nurse.
  6. Assists clients to the bathroom or with the use of a bedpan.
  7. Meets the safety needs of the client and uses equipment safely and properly.
  8. Takes and records accurately, temperature, pulse, and respiration: and reports change to a Registered Nurse.
  9. Performs routine nursing duties (vital signs, personal care, nutritional teaching, exercise and so forth) and general tasks required to provide for the safety and emotional, spiritual, and physical comfort of the patients. Assists patent's family with coping with the patent's illness.

Qualifications

  • Meets the training requirements in accordance with state and federal
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Home Health experience preferred
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions and document care
  • Self -directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision
  • Empathy for the needs of the ill, injured, frail, and the
  • Poses and maintains current BLS CPR certification
  • Demonstrates tact, patience, and good personal
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Products.
  • Licensed driver with automobile that is in good working order and insured in accordance with agency
